Past TimesDiscover the heritage of the “Moyen Verdon” following the course of the 17 sundials
The sundials show the symbols of heritage and identity of each individual area. All of these themes are then expanded upon by the illustrated boards on the different sites around the region.
Created in the summer of 2007, these sundials are the product of historical research which was then brought to life by a team of 5 artists.
These works are also a mix of two disciplines which are often opposed – art and science: scholars certified the precision of the dials which was indispensable for the preliminary brushstrokes by the artists.
In total, 17 sundials can be discovered in the area of the “Pays du Verdon” from Castellane to Saint Andre les Alpes, passing throught Barreme and other less well-known villages, secret and authentic areas in the heart of the “Haute Provence”.
The route can easily be done by car and will interest both young and old. To prepare for your journey (wich can last half a day up to 2 days if you wish to visit all the markers) read the information booklet which is available in the tourism offices or contact the “Communaute de Communes du Moyen Verdon” on 04 92 83 68 99
A trail game, which can be done alone or as a family, is also available on this leaflet.
So, put time on hold and take this fascinating trail around the sundial markers of the region!
